New? Welcome! Confused? Don’t be.
You can read about why I made my first list in 2013 here, and see how well I did here or here.
For all blog posts about list items (in progress or completed) you can click here.
Below is the list I made for 2014; I’ll be updating my progress as I go. If you want to know the reason for each item on the list, you can find out here.
- Go on a vacation sans babies
- Visit Brad and Emily: We went to both Illinois and Indiana and had a lovely time.
- Reach out to my friends: This is ongoing and hard to quantify, but it is happening.
- Host Fakesgiving: Yup. Can’t wait to do it again next year!
- Color my hair: Done!
- Wear skirts more often
- Purge my closet: That happened. Sort of. I should probably do it again. And write about it.
- Create a new family tradition: French Bread Friday! I look forward to it every week.
- Figure out–and ideally resolve–my health issues: Turns out I don’t have a thyroid issue so I’m not sure what’s next. I need to write an entire post on this topic.
- Learn to play something new on the piano
- Learn to play the ukelele: I’ve been practicing a few chords on Mila’s ukelele but need to buy myself one that is higher quality and keep working
- Bake something new each month: January – overnight cinnamon rolls that were not great; February – 30 minute rolls that we did not love; March – double chocolate banana bread that is now a staple at our house; April – chocolate chip cookies that were better than average; May – peanut butter chocolate chip bars that we loved; June – yellow cake that was mediocre; July – chocolate chip cookies and biscoff blondies
- Sign up for and use a gym membership
- Have a photo shoot in the Guadalupe cemetery
- Go to the open house, dedication, and do some work at the Gilbert LDS temple: I went to the open house twice and watched the dedication broadcast from my church building.
- Attend a live performance (concert, play, opera, ballet, whatever)
- Find (and share) some new music
- Try five new-to-me restaurants: 24 Carrots in January (meh), El Zocalo in May (get the carne asada), Sandella’s in June (so yummy), Joyride Taco House in July (I want to go back asap)
- Try five new-to-me foods: Horned melon, liege waffles
- Grow a more successful garden: It’s certainly growing but we still don’t know if we’ll get any produce. Fingers crossed!
- Finish all my outstanding yarn projects
- Remodel the kitchen: It is not finished yet, but you can read all about our progress. Before pics, demolition, fixing the ceiling, putting things together, and what it looks like right now.
- Move the girls into the pink room: We did it and then we undid it. Sometimes things that seem like good ideas are not actually good ideas.
- Find a new dresser for the girls: Done!
- Finish the master bedroom
- Finish our family photo gallery wall: Done, but I haven’t yet posted about it!
- Figure out a cleaning schedule
- Hire someone to redesign my blog
- Post a monthly “think piece”: January – Why it’s okay if you don’t do it all; February – Galentines Day, March – no post; April – Ode to a Margot; May – Inspired and at peace; June – This is what depression/anxiety looks like; July – The truth about having two kids
- Contribute regularly to Tipsaholic and The Beesley Project: You can read all my Beesley posts here (I post every Friday); Tipsaholic updates with less predictability but I submit a handful of articles every month
