These are blossoms from our garden.
I cannot even tell you how surprised I am that this is happening.
We have neglected that thing so bad for the last…oh I don’t know, couple months or so. The sprinklers in the back yard are on a timer, and they water the garden pretty well, so it’s not like we really need to go out there.
Yes, it’s overgrown and there’s quite a bit of grass in there. No, I’m not entirely sure what each plant actually is. (Squash for sure, and I think watermelon. Possibly cucumbers?)
But evidently we haven’t killed it. If we’re very lucky–because let’s be honest, any success here has long been out of our hands–we might even get something tasty out of it.
If you haven’t already seen Weird Al Yankovic’s latest parody videos, do yourself a favor and at the very least watch Handy and Word Crimes. I remember rolling my eyes at the boys who thought Weird Al was just the greatest in junior high, but only because I was trying to be cool. Secretly I thought Amish Paradise was fantastic. Because it was.
In other, older Weird Al news, did you know that David’s cousin collaborated with him on a couple children’s books a while ago? It’s true! Al wrote the books, Wes illustrated them, and they’re darling. You can buy them here and here.
This week I caved and bought some Speculoos cookie butter from TJ’s…which I have since been eating by the spoonful. Tomorrow I think I’m gonna try these blondies because chocolate and cookie butter? How could that go wrong?
I very seriously covet this bike. The girls and I could have so much fun cruising all over the place…once it’s not hotter than the surface of the sun anymore, of course.
This shop is chock full of stuff I want. Among other things I’m debating getting this print; it makes me think of Chrissy.
And if you haven’t yet seen this collection of photos of mothers and their babies, please take a look. The images are darling. Makes me wanna snuggle my girlies and eat their toes.
…which is pretty much all I have planned for this weekend. Besides baking those blondies, that is. Happy Friday, everyone!

Speaking of Amish Paradise, that reminds me that the power was out last night in our neighborhood. But that's just perfect for an Amish like me. You know we shun fancy things like electricity.
