What’s this list all about? Read and find out.
My success on completing everything is a mixed bag, but I’m happy with some of the progress I made and experiences I had. Sometimes it’s more about trying to do more and be better than about ticking off everything on a to-do list.
(At least that’s what I’m telling myself because it makes the sting of failure a little less…stingy. Whatever. I birthed a 10 pound baby. I get a pass on everything else, right?)
- Get baby #2 here safe and sound (Margot’s blog debut and her birth story)
- Go to the beach as a family (check!)
- Start regular family scripture study (FAIL)
- Take updated family photos (these were fine, but these were much better!)
- Create a new family tradition (sort of?)
- Meditate daily (FAIL)
- Strengthen my core (Belly dancing. Nuff said.)
- Get a library card (done!)
- Wear sequins at least once (sparkly gold TOMS!)
- Get SCUBA certified (not certified but we tried it and like it)
- Learn to play something new on the piano (I got sheet music and attempted to practice. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than nothing.)
- Plant a garden (we built a raised bed and planted some seeds and stuff started growing and growing even more…and then it all died. Alas.)
- Make/acquire more holiday decorations (Halloween and Christmas)
- Hang art and photos on the walls (we got started but I should probably post more current photos)
- Paint my bookshelves (FAIL)
- Finish Mila’s bedroom (it’s painted and curtains are up but that’s as far as I got)
- Work out a cleaning schedule and stick to it (our weekly dish rotation is better than nothing)
- Incorporate more vegetarian meals into my repertoire (Roasted Veggie & Black Bean Burritos; Cauliflower & Tomato Curry) (Creamy Gnocchi Soup) (Cauliflower Soup)
- Eat at 5 new-to-me restaurants (Essence Bakery on 1/14; Liberty Market on 2/27; White Chocolate Grill on 9/14; The Living Room on 10/19; some Indian place I forgot the name of in November)
- Try 5 new-to-me foods (fennel, ostrich egg, sauerkraut, gooseberries, and lemon curd)
- Bake 30 cakes
- Learn to make really good bread (I had one success but am still fine-tuning my skills)
- Send out our (belated) holiday cards (FAIL)
- Reconnect with some old friends (spent time with Kelli on 1/14; went to AMY with Brooke & Scott on 3/30; Melissa and Natalie in the early summer; Dyelle in November)
- Host 3 parties (Mila’s birthday/Margot’s blessing; Halloween party; never did a third)
- Attend some local events (blogger meet-up on 2/22; blogger meet-up in September)
- Make more play dates for Mila (done and done)
- Finish my “15 Ways” series (yeah…that’s dead, and I’m okay with it)
- Take weekly photos of both babies (Mila Mondays are still on, and now they feature both girls)
- Svithe once a month (January; February; March; April; June; July; October)
