I am running late on this master bedroom makeover in so many ways. Late posting, late pulling things together, late late late.
I blame one snot-nosed baby boy. And my own indecisiveness. And life in general happening, as it is wont to do.
Quite a few things are coming together to finish up this room. A lamp for the corner with the bookshelves. A new mirror for over the dresser. A handful of decorative objects that make my heart happy.
Other things are still in the works and who even knows when they’ll be finished. The bed (as I mentioned last week). A chair for the bookshelf corner. Throw pillows. Sconces that are still back ordered.
We came up with some really cool, simple plans to display a handful of pretty things that have been living in storage simply because we had no idea what to do with them until now. So that’s exciting.
But I’m not done. I’m not gonna be done by next week. It’s fine. Really.
In spite of progress being slower than I’d hoped, I am far from discouraged about this room. Even David told me last night how happy he is with the direction it’s going. So am I. Everything feels cohesive and intentional and much more our style. It’s a far cry from the hodgepodge storage-and-sleeping-space it was before.
While I’d love to be spending my Friday shopping for a cozy chair and side table, there are a few more important items on my to-do list today. So it goes. I could spend the day pouting and worrying that I won’t ever finish this One Room Challenge, or I can adapt and get crap done.
A chair will be found eventually, and it’ll be just right for that little reading nook. Those lights will show up on my doorstep one of these days. David will have a few hours to devote to building the bed he’s been envisioning. We will finish our master bedroom and it will be great when we do.
No matter what the state of things is by then, I will be sharing “after” photos next Thursday. Count on it. Just don’t expect perfection, because you’ll be disappointed for sure.
Which is probably a decent attitude to have all the time anyway, master bedroom makeover or not.

!!!!!! LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY PRETTY DETAILS!!!!
Oh my goodness, Jen, this is going to be SO GOOD! I **LOVE** all the little bits shown here! Even if it takes another few months to finalize some of the bigger pieces, having beautiful little corners and spots and a solid design direction will make such a huge difference in how you see/spend time in this room.
Yay!
