I’ll just put it out there right now so you know what to expect from this post:
This week, I made zero tangible progress on my master bedroom makeover.
I’m not even going to pretend there’s something to show because there’s not. Did you want to see pics? Here’s some flowers:
Happy?
The week just got away from me, guys. It’s fine! It happens!
There was Margot’s birthday and a trip to the pediatrician. (To find out that, no, Ryan doesn’t have an ear infection, he’s just teething. I sure love paying $100 to hear that. /sarcasm) There was laundry and grocery shopping. Preschool. Phone calls. Library trips. Meal prep. Meal cleanup. More meal prep and cleanup. Screaming babies that wanted to be held all day. Naughty children who crushed crackers all over the family room floor.
You know. Typical mom stuff.
It’s all just excuses, I know, and nobody wants to hear ’em.
SO
Here’s what I did do!
I did take some time–mostly while nursing a baby in the middle of the night–to get a better idea of what I want the room to look like when it’s finished. Probably should’ve had a clearer vision going into this thing, but let’s be honest: making it up as I go is pretty much how I life my live these days.
I did spend time with David hashing out plans for building the bed, which is going to be amazing.
I did get plenty of online shopping done. Both browsing and purchasing. I hit a lovely snag in my plan when the lamps I wanted turned out to be on back order and won’t ship until June. Perhaps I could find something I liked from another source, you say? Well, unless I want a lamp that looks like a glowing maxi pad, or something burning in a trash can, or a toilet paper holder with a few sheets draped over it in front of a light bulb, or a dragon holding a glowing orb in its mouth, not so much.
Good looking lamps at a reasonable price are apparently VERY hard to find. I ended up buying the back ordered ones. We’ll all just have to get over it.
Anyway. I did some things. Even if right now the room looks basically the same as last week. A little dustier, if anything.
I’m discouraged but cautiously optimistic. I can pull this off, right? I have an upcoming weekend with no plans. And I’ve got a handful of packages headed my way, which is always fun. And David should have time to put my shelves together, which I’m super excited about. (No more books on the floor! Yay!)
Next week there will be progress. Almost definitely. I’m like 75% sure.
Either way, tomorrow there will be cake. Pink cake. Stay tuned.

You can go see lots of legitimate progress from the other guest participants in the ORC here!

When I found the sconces I wanted I waited for 5 months for them to be delayed, delayed, and then finally delivered. Sometimes it’s just worth it.
I can’t wait to see the progress! And the pink cake! 🙂

You’re right; it’s worth it to wait. But still. So annoying. Where were yours from?

No maxi pad lamps! I think that’s a rule of the One Room Challenge. 🙂 Just wait for the ones that will make you happy.

Right? I think that should be a cardinal rule of interior design: no fixtures that look like hygiene products. Ha!
