- I’m an introvert homebody, so holing up alone is kind of my default setting anyway.
- In prepping to have a baby, we had eliminated a lot of extra activities and made no plans for spring or summer break, so there was very little to cancel.
- The kids get along really well.
- We have lots of LEGOs to keep them entertained.
- When those fail, there’s always Netflix, PBS Kids, and the Wii.
- I didn’t have to decide how long to stay home from church with a newborn.
- I didn’t have to worry about germy people wanting to hold the newborn.
- David has been working from home a lot so I don’t have to take all the kids to pediatrician & midwife visits or find a babysitter; they just stay home with him.
- We were already on spring break with school was cancelled so the transition wasn’t abrupt.
- We’ve been able to stay in touch with people via video chats and texting. Yay technology.
- Nobody is coming over and seeing my messy house.
- There’s no pressure to style my hair or wear makeup.
- When I do style my hair or wear makeup, I feel extra accomplished and beautiful.
- Online is my favorite way to shop anyway.
- There haven’t been any of the usual end-of-school-year activities, so May has been remarkably chill.
- Our air conditioning works really well.
- The big kids have been around to help with and bond with the baby.
- They’re not bringing home germs (or lice!) from school.
- Our recycling bin isn’t constantly full of schoolwork and graded homework and other school papers.
- Online piano lessons are kind of awesome. I get to observe and we don’t have to schedule our evenings around driving to the studio.
- Since we’re driving way less often, we’ve spent very little on gas.
- David is “home” from work earlier than usual and has made dinner more often. Yay for grilling and smoking all the things.
- Sunday mornings are actually restful instead of a rush to get everyone ready for church.
- Having the sacrament at home as just a family has been lovely.
- We’ve played a lot of games and done a lot of puzzles together, and it’s so nice that the kids are getting old enough for things like that.
There are probably hundreds of other little blessings I could count. All things considered, the last two months could’ve been a whole lot worse. I may be grumpy, but I really am grateful underneath it all.
