Yes, it’s Marriage Month, but that doesn’t mean Mila Monday or TBotW are going anywhere. We’ll just have to work them into the theme somehow.
Like by saying marriage is a garden: you have to water and weed and care for it, so it can grow and flourish.
Or by saying marriages are like flowers, each unique and beautiful in their own special way.
Or by saying if your husband isn’t the type to buy you flowers, save yourself the unnecessary disappointment and just go buy some dang peonies for yourself. Which is less sentimental than it is a practical way to prevent stupid fights about who doesn’t love whom enough. YOU BOTH LOVE EACH OTHER GET OVER YOURSELVES
It’s all about picking your battles, amiright?
(These are flowers on a desert willow at the park near our house, by the way. Pretty, no?)

Chrissy shared a link to these honest wedding vows on Facebook last week and I thought it was tremendously appropriate. (Language warning toward the end, though, FYI.)
I love Joanna Goddard’s recent post on things she has learned about marriage. I could especially relate to #1, since David often stays up late to work after I’ve gone to bed.
I’ve got one final, more serious thing to share with you:
A dear friend and his wife recently
experienced the greatest tragedy a parent can face. Their daughter Aria
was born early via emergency c-section and with severe neurological
and physical issues. She spent seven blessed weeks with them before
passing away. My heart is just broken for their little family. You can read some of her story here.
Even in their grief, Mike and Natasha have been so selfless and
forward-thinking. They’re creating a scholarship for nursing students as
a thank you to all the wonderful nurses who supported them during
Aria’s short life. Please consider donating to their fund as a memorial to their darling girl and to support the generous spirit of such a sweet couple. You can make donations here. Every little bit makes a difference.
I love you all. Have a beautiful weekend, and remember to hug your families extra tight for me.

Marriage is like onions? Lots of layers and sometimes it makes you cry?
No, marriage is like a parfait, everybody likes a parfait…layers, yes, but….um…nope. Onions is better. Ha!
