David has been traveling a lot for work lately and has racked up a ton of airplane reward points. Obviously I had to brainstorm ways we could use them to take a family trip over fall break. Should we go to New York? To San Francisco? Portland? Atlanta? I couldn’t decide.
Then it occurred to me that we still hadn’t met my brother’s newest baby OR seen their new house in Cincinnati. Honestly, Cincinnati had never been on my list of places to visit, but…family! I did a little research and talked to my sister-in-law about dates and did some more research. With David’s schedule, we couldn’t fit the trip into fall break after all, but we could go for a long weekend right after.
So we did!
And I gotta say, we had a brilliant time there.
Not just because my brother and his family were excellent hosts (although they really really were) but because there’s a surprising amount of family-friendly stuff to do in Cincinnati.
Who knew? Not me, that’s for sure. I’m sold, though. It’s a surprisingly awesome city.
I threw together a little Cincinnati travel guide and posted it to my Travel page for anyone who’s headed that direction. It’s totally an underrated gem. Even if I didn’t have family in the area, I would absolutely visit again. And that’s only partly because it was too cold for us to see Fiona the baby hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo. Insert all the sad faces.
Seriously, though, we had so much fun.
