This week’s bloom is the ubiquitous (in Phoenix at any rate) Mexican bird of paradise.
They are EVERYWHERE.
And I adore them. Airy and sculptural, bright but not distractingly so, the flowers are dainty but the whole plant makes a big impact, and the colors?
They kill me.
My birthday is on Sunday, and my only goals are to take a nap and eat cake. Because apparently I am turning 4. Or 97.
(I am not turning either of those ages.)
If someone wanted to give me this skirt–or really any number of things on this pin board–as a birthday present I would not be mad.
Put the lime in the coconut.
David has been taking selfies with Margot every day for a couple weeks now. Most of them are on his phone, but every now and then I find one on mine and it makes my day.
My friend Emily and I have talked for years about holding Puberty Day Camp for kids to learn about their changing bodies in fun yet accurate ways. We share a weird sense of humor, I know, but this video? This takes things to a whole new level. I laughed so hard I cried.
And this? This takes the bloom of the week to a whole new level. Making something so beautiful out of something so destructive–and making a statement on the need for peace in the process–is brilliant.
Have a happy weekend, friends!
