Last week was an eventful one.
Some of the good stuff: new hairdos (photos to come), an afternoon with some new friends (details to come), and lots of binge watching Olympics. Can I just say how much I love the Olympics? So so much. Summer, winter, I don’t even care, I get a little addicted every two years.
Some of the bad stuff: I got food poisoning and spent one night getting real familiar with the toilet, the following day cozied up with the couch, and the rest of the weekend attempting to rehydrate my devastated system. While Mila was remarkable helpful during my sad recovery, Margot spent a good chunk of her day trying to dive down my shirt. After 24 hours of, uh, purging and not eating or drinking anything, there wasn’t much left for her in there anyway. How about let’s not do that ever again, mmkay?
Upcoming hair pics and awkward socialization (on my part, not the other people, of course) aside, here’s the big news at our house:
No, I did not even clear off the counters before taking pictures because, in case you’ve forgotten, this is what used to be there.
Even all cluttered and messy it’s SO MUCH BETTER NOW.
A smooth top that is easy to keep clean and a display that I can actually read. We had to write on one of the old
oven’s knobs so David could remember which direction was bake and which
was broil. Fancy.
Oh, and did I mention? Someone at some point had painted the top of it around a couple of the burners.
Just…why? Ugh. So gross.
Let’s forget about that and talk more about the new one. It has two–TWO!!!–ovens that heat evenly and have all kinds of fancy settings.
And the doors stay open all by themselves! It makes getting things in and out so easy I don’t even know what to do with myself.
The old oven and I were good friends–we did bake thirty cakes in a year together–but I must confess, I did a little happy dance when the guys from Lowe’s came and hauled it away. It was, after all, potentially a little hazardous to my health. RIP, old friend.
Now to make the rest of the kitchen look just as clean and bright and functional and amazing. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. I can’t wait.

Ooooh so pretty!!! I dream of shiny new double ovens… and a whole new kitchen, for that matter.

I feel so old when I get excited about appliances and kitchens, but you know what? There really is nothing better. ๐

We recently got a new dishwasher and humidifier and I had no idea I could ever be so happy about either of those things. Most 22-year-old girls probably get excited about new clothes/jewelry/makeup, but I'm just like, "I have clean dishes and don't wake up with a stuffy nose in the middle of the night… yay!" Must be getting old… ๐

Hurray!!! So exciting! Bake lots of goodies and post them all. ๐

Oh heavens! I've already used it so many times, I could never post them ALL. But some, for sure!
