Lists. I make them. They make me happy and help me organize my weirdo brain. Here’s one, generally blog-related.
1) I should probably get over my weird insecurities and start publishing my blog posts to my Facebook feed. Because I’m a little sad that more people don’t check in here, but then I remember that people don’t even know that here exists. Chutzpah: gonna get me some.
2) Writing posts ahead of time is genius. I love checking my feed in the morning and going, “Oh yeah! I posted something already today!” Makes me feel productive, even if it is just a hobby.
3) I’ve been thinking about doing another 30 for 30 in November. It was good for me last year, and heaven knows I need to be more creative with my current wardrobe instead of totally reliant on new clothes to make me feel pretty.
3a) I’m having a not-so-pretty moment. Not that I don’t actually look pretty (because even I’ll admit that sometimes I do) but that I don’t feel pretty. Like ever. It’ll pass.
3b) Really, though, the compulsive shopping must end.
4) Mila tried to say “spatula” today and came pretty dang close. Her vocabulary–both what she can say and what she understands–constantly amazes me. I need to make a list of all the words she knows, just because. Well, maybe a little bit to show off. My kid is smarter than all the other kids.
5) We have nothing to do for Halloween and this is eternally depressing to me. Mila’s the perfect age for dressing up however we want to and we have no reason for putting together a cute costume. I’d throw a party here but let’s face it:
5a) I have no friends.
5b) That’s a lie. I have friends. But very few of them live close enough to make attending a Halloween party at my house a possibility.
5c) The local friends I do have either have plans already or no love for Halloween. Which is LAME.
6) Made these for dinner last night. MAKE THEM. MAKE THEM NOW. YOUR TASTEBUDS WILL THANK YOU FOREVER.
6a) Are avocados readily accessible in other parts of the country year-round, or is that just a southwest thing? What about tortillas? Salsa verde? Do they even sell stuff like that in grocery stores in, say, New Hampshire?
6b) What do people eat when there’s no good Mexican food around? I might die if I didn’t have access to decent chimichangas.
7) I feel guilty when I don’t include pictures in blog posts. Which means I’ve got blog guilt now because I have no relevant photos to add here. Alas.
That’s all, I think. Except for a question:
If I did another 30 for 30, would anyone else like to join me? It’s more fun when I’m not a total loner.
Also this: maybe I don’t want to start publishing my blog to FB at the same time I’m going to start posting self-portraits with any regularity. Cue excessive self-consciousness. I should rethink my timing on this…
The end. For reals.

Now that we live in VA, I have to look for canned green chili in the mini ethnic food aisle next to the kosher stuff.
But people keep telling me there's good Mexican food here. It's just not going to hold up against Pro's Ranch Market (may you live forever, you insanely awesome grocery store…).

Canned green chiles are better than none at all, for sure. That's a comfort.

Oh good Mexican food, how I will miss you if we move back east. For some reason I feel like they don't have any of it over there. 🙂 And on another note, you and Mila were in my dream last night, which involved carrying her around in that too small carseat you took a picture of a while back. I was highly entertained when I woke up. Also, my son now can get his arm out of his carseat strap if I don't pull the chest strap up high enough. Kids are so talented. And that's my randomness for the night. 🙂

Aww…glad we could hang out briefly in dreamland!

I felt that 5c pointed right at Adam, and it would be true. The man does not have love for Halloween. But I have been given a costume that is right out of the movie Xanadu and no where to wear it. If you had a Halloween party, I would come and convince Adam to dress up and participate.
Jen says
He's not the only one, I'm sad to say. And a party is not looking very likely at this point. Maybe you should dress up in your Xanadu outfit and come over anyway, just because who else is going to appreciate that the way I would?
