On Tuesday my girl had her first day of preschool. HOW IS SHE OLD ENOUGH FOR THIS
She was so nervous in the morning. “I don’t want you to leave me,” she whimpered. “I don’t want to be alone at preschool.” I assured her that she wouldn’t be alone, that her teacher and friends would be there. We talked about all the fun things they would do, and when I mentioned class parties down the road she lit right up. “Let’s go to preschool right now!”
I’m not sure how she became so much brighter and more confident in a matter of two hours, but when I picked her up she had changed. Or maybe she’s been changing for a while and I didn’t notice until that moment. She’s not my baby anymore.
But she’s still my sweet girl, and always will be.
