Hygge (n, v, adj, and more): a Danish word I can never pronounce right that means “coziness, warmth, and connection
Emily P. Freeman’s podcast “The Next Right Thing” helps me feel peace + clarity in a way few other things do. Her voice is so soothing, and her messages are profound. I specifically referred to episode 55: Learn to Walk in the Dark, but I haven’t found one yet that I didn’t love.
The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell was an interesting peek into Danish life from a British point of view. Definitely one to check out from the library, though, if you know what I mean.
The Nester (aka Myquillin Smith, aka Emily P. Freeman’s sister…how is one family so great??) is my go-to home style person. I purchased her Cozy Minimalist courses last year and feel like my entire outlook on seasonal decor has changed. Her new book–Cozy Minimalist Home–just came out, and I cannot wait for my preordered copy to finally arrive.
Here’s Leslie Odom Jr. singing “Autumn Leaves.” (Don’t tell my 7-year-old, but his performance is way better than her 1st grade class singing a very similar song last year. Just saying.)
My favorite fall stations on Pandora are “Bonfire Radio” and “Memphis Soul.” And here’s the link to my fall playlist on Spotify.
Listen to the full episode below, then go forth and get hygge.
