My dear American friends,
TODAY IS THE DAY!
Whatever your beliefs or party affiliation, today is the day to tell your elected representatives what you stand for. If you haven’t already submitted an early ballot, get thee to a polling place and make your voice heard.
(Not literally, because I think they frown on disruptive behavior during the voting process, but you know. Tick a box or punch a hole or whatever process they use in your area…do that.)
Don’t just vote for a presidential candidate and be done. Your state and local officials have more influence over what happens in your community, and their influence will be felt by whoever sits in the Oval Office for the next four years. Local initiatives and bills deserve your time, too. Cast your ballot for the people and proposals you support.
Because guess what: YOU CAN! That’s what a democratic republic is all about, Charlie Brown!
And however things turn out (because let’s face it, this election season has been a complete nightmare) don’t forget to be kind. To yourself and to others. After all is said and done, the biggest difference you can make is by being a good person.
