Last fall I bought us an annual pass to the Desert Botanical Garden. When we visited in November, I reserved spots for us to visit the butterfly pavilion too. It’s always a big hit with the kids, but since it’s a seasonal exhibit, it’s not always open. I think we caught the tail end of the monarch migration this time around.
Ryan desperately wanted a butterfly to land on him. He was so patient, creeping up close to butterflies as they rested, gently asking them to come sit on the finger he held out to them.
It was the sweetest things. Kind of heartbreaking, too. Because guess where the butterflies did not land. On Ryan. And guess where they did land.
On both of the girls.
He was so sad. We will have to go back when it opens again next week and see if we can catch that tender boy a butterfly.
