I truly do not remember how I heard about this but it is awesome. And I have never in my life used Dutch Boy paint, nor is my blog widely read enough for major companies to contact me about promoting their stuff, so you know this is just me sharing a fun toy. Scout’s honor…or whatever the non-scout SAHM equivalent of that would be.

Dutch Boy made an app that creates a color palette from a song. It either “listens” to the song you’re playing or you can search for a song in your music library, and then the app puts together paint colors that, I guess, fit that type of music.
Por ejemplo…I played “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk (because that is Mila’s jam and she requests it at least once a day) and after the little Dutch boy bopped his head to the beat for a few seconds, he pulled together this:
Wanna know what colors I’ve used thus far in my house?
Hmmm.
When I played “Obsession” by Animotion, I got this:
You know. Just the color of my living room walls, my favorite couch, and my bedspread. No big deal.
And when I played “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, I was a little skeptical, because dark green?
But then I glanced over and noticed this vignette on my fireplace hearth.
Either we’ve got a creepy Big Brother situation going on where they are peeking into my house and my iTunes library and trying to freak me out, or the app is just kind of amazing like that.
It’s free in the app store. You should check it out. Just know that I was unimpressed with the Michael Jackson and Florence + the Machine results. Oh, and it didn’t recognize either Sufjan Stevens or Radiohead, which…whaaa? No.
"Get Lucky" is Edie's lullabye. Our kids are both awesome and would probably be friends. Or enemies? I have no idea how kids work.
Frenemies? Let's stick with that until we know for sure.
