When I checked the mail today, there were fruit flies buzzing around my J Crew catalog. Why was that, you ask? Because there was some squished citrus at the back of my mailbox. My theory is that some neighbor kid who was walking home from school pulled a grapefruit off the tree down the street, stomped on it, and tossed it in thinking he was so hilarious.
Today I am thankful that I have the chance to raise my own kids because other people’s children are terrible. (Except yours, of course. Yours are lovely.)
Speaking of Schmidt, though, why do I love New Girl so much? It’s one of those shows that I feel like maybe I shouldn’t like as much as I do but gosh darn it, those weirdos make me laugh until I cry and I just can’t get enough of it. I even made us a poster so David and I could remind ourselves that sometimes we are awesome.
Whenever we do something we feel particularly proud of, we write it down. And while maybe Schmidt shouldn’t be our role model in, well, almost anything, he is remarkably good at knowing his strengths. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s nice to have a reminder that I’m not always a loser.
To go along with our crushed it poster, we also now have a thankful poster, complete with fat baby hand turkeys. Of course the only person who has written on it so far is Mila…
I just made it yesterday though. Give us some time and we will fill that baby up because you better believe I’m thankful for all kinds of stuff. My blow dryer. Mornings at the park. The chocolate David’s coworker gave him to give me. (Should I be creeped out by that? Because oddly enough I am not. Chocolate is chocolate, right?) Oh, let’s not forget that I’m thankful for the bread I baked yesterday.
We’ve already eaten almost an entire loaf because it’s just that good. Easily the best bread I’ve ever made. Don’t worry: I added it to the “crushed it” poster. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to smother a slice in honey and peruse the J Crew catalog, which was fortunately unharmed by the mailbox grapefruit and their companion fruit flies and for which I am also thankful.
Happy Friday, y’all.

yo, where be the recipe for this delish bread?!

It was just a white bread from Martha Stewart. I'll post some tips I've learned though, since that seems to be what makes the difference for me more than what recipe I use.

This whole post made me happy! I have the same exact feelings about New Girl. Sometimes I feel guilty for loving it so much so I quit watching for a while… but I always come back because I can't resist the temptation when I have 4-5 unwatched episodes of Schmidtty goodness.
Also, you are awesome. Just in case you were wondering. 😉

I haven't seen anything from this season yet, but rewatching old episodes on Netflix after the girls are in bed is one of the best ways to ensure I fall asleep happy.
Also, thank you! 🙂
