Somebody is a bit of a grumpus today.
She did NOT want to take her “jammies off,” and once I did, she did NOT want to put “c’o’es on.” She did NOT want her (disgusting beyond all disgust) “dahper” changed. She did NOT want to eat “nunch.”
She did, however, consent to eat some “ontchies” (oranges, or in this case, clementines) as long as I let her “peew” them herself.
But of course that was not as fun as she thought it would be, and after knocking her “mawk” onto the floor, she declared the fruit “g’oss.”
When I asked her to smile for Mama, this was the best I could get out of her. (Please ignore the green bruise on her forehead. She crashed and burned on the tile a few days ago. I’m just grateful she didn’t knock out a tooth or something.)
Some days are just like that, though. Nothing sounds interesting, everything is stupid, and all you want to do is curl up in bed with a blankie and start over later. Which is exactly what she’s doing.
Hopefully when she wakes up from her nap she’ll be happier because the three of us are gonna party it up this evening for David’s birthday. Confession: I’ll be cooking crab and/or lobster–at David’s request–for the first time ever and I’m terrified! Bravery, 2013. I’m making it happen one celebratory crustacean at a time.

I agree- some days are just like that!

And don't you wish we could all just take a nap and it would magically be better? Sigh.

46 Reasons my three-year-old might be freaking out. I love writing about situations like this, because they seem to have no idea what they want and we get so frustrated… and it is really quite funny looking back on it.
Good luck on the crustacean tonight!! We just got our new monthly cheeses and they are incredible yet again! Loving this!!!!

Thanks for the link…it's funny because it's SO TRUE! And I'm glad those cheeses are working out for you. I'm a little jealous and may end up caving and getting us a subscription too!

What cake are you baking for his birthday?
Jen says
We had his cake yesterday at Sunday dinner: chocolate w/ hazelnut mousse. I'll be posting photos and the recipe soon. Gotta do the one you guys ate first!

Oh sweet heaven. That sounds delicious! Adam's birthday is at the end of the month if you need another event for your cake baking. Maybe we will invite you over for dinner then.
Jen says
Oh it was. And I'd love to bake Adam a birthday cake. Any requests?
