David had a lot of time off work over the holidays. In fact, he just went back yesterday and we’re already missing him. A lot. More than maybe I should admit.
Before he went back, though, he wanted to make the most of his time at home. So what did we do? What every fun-loving family does when it’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve and you’ve got time on your hands. That’s right: we worked on house projects. Woo!
(What, you guys didn’t do that too?)
While it didn’t make for the most Christmassy of Christmasses (although the live Christmas tree did help tone down the paint fumes), it felt SO GOOD to get some big stuff checked off our to-do list. Believe it or not, the only rooms left to paint are the bathrooms, laundry room, and the garden of bloody baby hands. Even then, the first two have zero wallpaper in them–thanks to an anti-wallpaper jihad David declared one afternoon–and the last one is prepped and primed and ready to go once I choose a color.
And hey. The house is already in much better shape for next year’s Christmas celebrations, which I’m already looking forward to. Because I have issues. And a minor obsession with wrapping presents.
Ahem.
Since I’m sure you’re all DYING to see some of this progress I keep yammering on about, and since I’ve taken a bajillion before and after photos, there will be quite a few house update posts over the next little while. For now, here’s a couple teasers from different rooms in the house.
A before:
And an after:
And yes. Both of those are probably exactly what you think they are.
Just you wait, ‘enry ‘iggins, just you wait.
