Food has no morality. All bodies are good bodies. We have permission to enjoy what we eat. Amen.
First and most importantly, a few intuitive eating resources:
- The Instagram account Mindful Counseling. Tiffany Roe is a licensed therapist who specializes in eating disorders. She’s also one of the best free, accessible resources on intuitive eating that I’m aware of. You can also visit her website for paid courses or listen to her podcast for free, INCREDIBLY helpful “Therapy Thoughts.”
- While I’ve never read the book Intuitive Eating, I understand it’s theee “textbook” on the subject.” It’s on my TBR list and you may want to add it to yours.
- The Lazy Genius has two relevant episodes that I recommend: #81 The Lazy Genius and Healthy Eating, and #46 The Lazy Genius Loses Weight.
If you know of any other good resources, please let me know so I can add them here!
The “feed my seymour” line is from “Little Shop of Horrors” which I did not watch this year before Halloween and now need to remedy. It’s so good. (Heads up, that clip starts with a swear. Sorry.)
Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think was a fascinating look into the reasons we often eat so much without even noticing. So many interesting mini studies. A lot of the advice is geared toward making sure you don’t overeat, but I think the bigger point is to just be more aware of your body’s cues and all the external factors that influence us to eat mindlessly.
You can still sign up for Gratitude On Purpose HERE if you need a little extra mindfulness in your life.
