Amelia and I have been sick off and on over the last couple weeks but I think we’ve finally turned a corner. I feel like blogging again, and she’s playing happily on the floor instead of whining to be picked up and snuggled.
And can I just mention how cute she is being today? Dancing to any music she hears, flipping through books and “reading” them aloud, babbling and clapping to herself as she crawls in and out and around the kitchen chairs, petting and licking the walls (because she’s a weirdo), and holding up the biggest stacking ring so she can peek at me through it. Oh how I love my girl.
Like I mentioned above, I’m ready to get back to blogging again. I know I’ve said this before, but I’ve been considering starting a new blog. Use this as a place for Mila Mondays and other family stuffs, and post elsewhere for more Jen-focused projects and thoughts and things. Or do the opposite: start a new blog just for our family and get this one back to where I would like it to be. I don’t know. Maybe I should keep everything in one place. If you have thoughts, I certainly welcome them.
Either way, the goal is to be posting more often. Much more often. To jump start that, I thought I’d join in with another mini-challenge Kayla and a couple of her friends are doing today. Their “Open to Interpretation” linkup is pretty simple: they choose a photo and use it as inspiration for an outfit. Go here to see their choice.
This is what I came up with:
Teal skirt w/ white dots (used to be a dress I bought at one of those random mall stores w/ super trendy clothes but I recently chopped it), neutral patterned tee (J Crew), planet necklace (gift), and flip flops (Target) because it’s spring and I can. Plus I have to go get some blood work done today and I really don’t feel like dealing with uncomfortable shoes AND needles. A girl can only handle so much at a time, you know.
P. S. In the closeup (which I only included so you could see that my shirt isn’t just grey and my skirt really does have pin dots on it) I totally look like I have a long curly beard. I was looking off to the side at a bird wing that was decomposing on the grass. SO GROSS. I was really worried I might step on it accidentally and then I’d have to boil my feet in bleach. Thank you, neighborhood cats, for such a thoughtful gift.

I love the silhouette of this. So pretty!
And it really is amazing how differently the act being sick and well. My little guy is sick today and just wants to cuddle and read books all day long (which is kind of nice, I suppose).

I am so happy for you guys! And.. I actually thought the beard picture was you from the back, so I just had one of those optical illusion realization moments. Crazy.
How did you do the top of the skirt?
Jen says
Erica: Thanks! I was feeling self-conscious about them because I just let my hair air dry. Nice to know it's not too heinous. 🙂
Preethi: Poor sick babies. Hope your little one is feeling better soon!
Anna: I just ripped out the seam connecting the bodice to the waistband and left it raw. It's a knit, so it just kind of rolled up. I keep thinking I should finish it but hasn't frayed yet, even though it's been washed twice, so I may just keep it as is.

Kayla: It's hard to embrace the curls sometimes, so it's nice to be reminded that they're a blessing.
Nuha: Gross, right? I've got to get someone to deal with that thing so I don't have to see it anymore. Ugh.
Emily & Nav: Thanks ladies!
