A couple weeks ago I was able to meet up with David at the end of a business trip to Washington, D.C. and it. Was. AWESOME. Not only did we get to spend a couple days alone together (the kiddos stayed with their grandparents!) but we got to spend those days in one of the coolest cities in the country. Bonus: this was my first ever visit to our nation’s capital!
I want to tell you all about it…how we walked until we had aching feet and blisters, how our eyes got completely over-saturated with beautiful art, how the timing of everything seemed to fall into place so we only waited in line once, how the weather was like manna for my overheated Phoenix-dwelling soul, and how I kept singing lyrics from Hamilton but David didn’t get it because he’s not an obsessed nerd like me.
(That’s the man himself in front of the Department of the Treasury. You got your plan through Congress, sure, BUT AT WHAT COST, ALEXANDER, AT WHAT COST.)
Ahem.
I still haven’t decided if I’ll just do a single gigantic post or spread things out over a handful. Regardless, don’t be surprised when photos of neoclassical architecture show up in your feed more often than usual.
Have you ever been to D.C.? What’s your favorite thing there? And what do you want to know about our trip? A full travelogue? Highlights? The location of the craziest lady in town? (I’ll just tell you: she was avoiding the rain in an alcove in the south portico of the Smithsonian portrait gallery/American art museum and yelling obscenities at anyone who came too close. Good times!)
