So I got a haircut.
(Also evidently I think I am a ballerina.)
Until Tuesday, my hair was literally the longest it has ever been. When it was straight and in a ponytail, it still came down past my bra. I’d always kind of wanted mermaid hair, and for the first time ever I had it.
Aaaaand I hated it.
On the rare occasion when I fixed it–blow-dried and curled or straightened–it was gorgeous. But since that happened maybe once a month, most of the time it was air-dried and scraggly. Or braided. Or wrapped up in a bun. What’s the fun in having long pretty hair if it’s always pulled up?
My goal was to have family pictures taken before I cut it to show future generations that once upon a time my hair was long and flowy and amazing. We took pictures. Less than two weeks later, the hair got the axe.
I feel so much more like myself now.
Awkward and easy going. Yeeeah boy. I do think I need to get a few more layers in to prevent the dreaded Bermuda hair triangle, but on the whole? SO MUCH BETTER.
My theory is that people who keep their hair long either a) are much higher maintenance than me and willing to take the time to tame their mane, b) don’t mind the scraggliness, or c) have hair that requires less attention than mine does to look nice. Whatevs. I’m happier with my new shorter ‘do.
