Just some scenes from around the house to remember what our last day on earth looked like.
Our advent candle, ready to burn day 12 tonight.
New pretties for the walls, if I can ever figure out where to put them now that they’re finally matted and framed (which was yesterday’s afternoon project).
Tubby toys lining the bathroom counter.
The garden of bloody baby hands, converted into storage space. Items of note: more art that will go in Mila’s room eventually, the dishwasher box which is now Mila’s beloved house, and the new rug we still need to roll out in the master bedroom.
Mila’s bug puzzle. She’s a big fan of the “moff” (moth) and the “pah-doh” (spider).
David’s shoes and The Old Man and the Sea on his side of the bed. Still no nightstands. Someday.
Cedar garland on the still-ugly-but-at-least-semi-hidden mantel.
Paint and other DIY gear in the master bath. Oh, the never ending projects.
A laundry basket full of toys and shoes, and bowl containing a few goldfish and the remains of a gnawed-on graham cracker. Yum.
Paperwhites growing on the kitchen windowsill.
The top of the piano, in all its eclectic but festive glory. What, African masks and Pokey aren’t Christmassy enough for you? The hymnbook is open to “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks” and the sheet music behind is “The Friendly Beasts.” Plus, Brian Kershisnik’s Nativity on the wall behind. So there. And no, I did not stage any of it. Hence the dust, if you look close enough.
What does your house look like on this, the end of days?

I thought it was Dec 21, 2012 according to the myan calendar. I was sure I had a few days left till the world ended…DANG!

You know, you're probably right. Which stinks because I have no idea what to make for dinner tonight…I was hoping I wouldn't have to worry about it!
