We spent one morning of our beach trip at some nearby tide pools. Maybe we would have seen more if we’d gone when the tide was going out instead of coming in, but we really couldn’t have asked for a better day to be there.
Some of us couldn’t wait to check things out.
Others of us (ahem, Margot) couldn’t be bothered.
Some of us were a little stand-offish…
…while some of us got maybe a little too hands-on.
We found hordes of crabs on land…
…and a couple sea slugs in the water.
We saw animals that looked like plants…
…and rocks that looked like animals…
…and plants on rocks…
…and sometimes we couldn’t be sure if they were rocks or plants or animals or all of the above.
There were big starfish and tiny ones.
The big one was even eating a mussel! Nature: it is awesome.
As grandpa would say, fun was had by all.

When did you have time to take awesome pics AND take care of your family? Really great day!!

Um…I mostly passed the girls off to someone else and took pics. 🙂 Also I think David snapped a couple of these.

My girl, linen & curls, lips parting like a flag all unfurled…. Nice reference. Gotta love the beach.

I try to slip the Decemberists in whenever I can. Nice catch.
