This is a potato vine, also known as a solanum jasminoides.
It’s related to potatoes–and tomatoes and eggplants–but has weird little berries instead of potatoes. I think they’re poisonous. I won’t be testing that theory.
From what I could find online, the purple flowers appear to be much less common than white ones, which is fine by me because I really like the purple ones. Even when they look pinkish all backlit by the sunset.
(Don’t mind the neighbor’s basketball setup in the shot. Just trying to keep things real around here.)
It is taking over a corner of our front yard and I don’t even care. It’s lovely.
