About

Hi! I’m Jen! I’m a self-taught visual artist living and working in the Phoenix, AZ metro area. After years of studying art history, patronizing museums & local artists, and teaching young children about art, I finally picked up a paintbrush. I have a tendency to dabble–both in style & medium–but bold acrylics are my forever favorite.

My work skews toward folk & pop art; I love clean lines & vibrant pallettes. I keep coming back to themes of connection–to others, to places, to emotions–through simplified visuals. Can a huge drooping flower adequately express love & loss? What colors and shapes represent the relief/grief of weaning a baby? How much of a landscape do you need to see to recognize it? Making art is a delightful, playful puzzle, and feels like coming home to myself.

I have a BA in humanities, a Master’s degree in education, four kids, a husband, a penchant for writing mediocre poetry, & a weakness for nachos.
